Arriving at & Departing from Zadar Airport

Zadar is a city of a remarkable reputation as well as an abundant traditional heritage. It happens to be an urban center of northern Dalmatia, in the middle of the Adriatic coast. With the Adriatic coast fast becoming one of Europe’s must-visit summer holiday destinations, Zadar Airport located near Zemunik Donji, is served by several European and international airlines. These include Ryanair, Eurowings, Lufthansa Regional and many more. One of Croatia’s best-located airports for tourists to the Dalmatian region, Zadar Airport is located 12 km in total from the peninsular city of Zadar itself. This means that business and leisure travelers arriving in the region, benefit from transfers to hotels and various sightseeing attractions which will rarely ever take more than 20-30 minutes. It is about 12 km from the city centre of Zadar and it is an important link in the northern Dalmatia, Croatia and the whole world.

Zadar Airport has a tradition of more than 40 years after its great potential for tourism. The airport is completely rebuilt in 1999, including the construction of the passenger terminal, control tower, runway and maneuvering areas. In 2006 the airport was again renovated and expanded with a new field of international and domestic arrivals and more production. Also, a new travel value and duty-free shop were built. The airport has seen in recent years a sharp rise in the number of passengers, mainly due to new international routes operated by low-cost airlines. Zadar airport serves both international and domestic airlines, but many international flights to Zadar operate only from late March, April to October.
At the airport, there is a parking lot with 577 spaces and cost 20 kunas for the first hour and each 3 hours after that. You can pay by credit or debit card, a minimum of 50 kunas is accepted. Zadar airport taxi stand is located opposite the exit of the Zadar Airport international arrival. The taxi stand is open from 00-24 hours and costs about 150-250 kunas to get to Zadar. Currently, there are no hotels on the site of Zadar Airport. The nearest Hotel is about 7 km (4.3 miles) from the airport.

Public Airport Transport Options

Zadar Airport is serviced by local public transport. Dedicated airport buses run from the main terminal building to Zadar’s main bus station and old town. The only problem, of course, is that as well as slightly longer overall journey times, airport buses can’t transfer you directly to the door of your Zadar accommodations. Generally, they depart from the gate of the international arrivals terminal and stop at the main bus station in Zadar City.
